Avery's Quilt : Backing takes shape

With the cloth top details completed the next step is to begin with the layering processes.

But first the back side of this quilt had to be formed.

To form the back measurements were needed to realize the size requirements & to form the backing. I took the measurements for the side and the bottom to find the size ( width and length) that my quilt will be. Once the measurement were noted, time to begin to form the back side of the quilt for layering.
I developed a grid to outlining the pieces to form the back side by layout it out  to decide how to develop the color order & as to those widths that shall be needed for the cuts. And shall need to sew together to form the cloth size for the backing.

The back piece is formed using the main colors; pink, yellow & green

The butterfly prints and 2 of the floral prints that best complimented one another among the colors will form the back.
My first cut & widest width is with using the yellow butterfly print.

2 more cuts followed using the remaining 2 butterfly prints: green and pink.

And proceeding those 2 cuts & once joined ...
2 more strips to complete the back cloth with sizing to the quilt top & using the 2 other floral prints to compliments with both the top and bottom for the cloth backing.

Next step: Assemble & quilt layers

My latest Quilt

Been busy finishing up with a new baby quilt this weekend. I decided 2 weeks ago, to make another Puff/biscuit/pillow quilt.  As soon as I located and purchased fabric for the puffs, I was right on it.  And to my luck, I already had a bag of filling and plenty of muslin for the backside to make the pillowing puffs. All I needed was the rainbow of pastel fabrics.  For this quilt, color choices included yellow and purple  with a few coordinating prints with hints of pink  after all, this is to be made for a newborn baby girl just born last week! I'm almost done today  and rather excited for it to be soon gifted.  However first, wanted to organize my journal progresses and edit my notes.  That made me begin to wonder, how many quilters really do journal their progresses  with notes, and as one is working on a project or quilt. I began to note how much better my work was flowing and as I kept up on my notes....
