Implementing Elements Using Fabric

Quilting has surely come a long way over the decades. Patchwork, to spins on all types of blockwork; from sew piecing a variety of shapes, to applique, and varying paper-piecing methods.

In the mix, the interest of design starts to notably kick in with layouts and into forming one's own ideas and choices, following to trickle over into those elements among fabric and of choice, for choosing.

I've come across a handful of tips and or tutorials for subjects on fabric selecting & quilt color theories, Meanwhile, keep trying to train my eyes for those benefits as I shop! And into spotting my favorite patterns colors towards wonderous venture and adding in those ideas of elements to encourage success.

Fabric choices can go and all kinds of directions when faced with the vast isles of those fabric bolts.

And since I've begun tilting towards those wondrous and soooo very... interesting kaleidoscope type quilts. You know, those that keep popping up on exploring sources like, Pinterest and Instagram. It's sort of becomes, eye candy, for myself!

That venue, however, can take on quite a flare among interest, and in turn just for developing for success. Most importantly, I've found considering the right fabric choice through those courses of development can have its own mayhem among the vast collection of fabric and pattern choices.

Concluding, fabric"elements" are quite important to focus on among choice, as I've moved into those challenging designs among quilt styles.

Moving from simple fabric patterns and adding paper piecing begins to move the eye and to discover circling fleurs and elements to add and as to enhance a fabric. The by way of its own design becomes important factors in implementing those fabric elements to form. This process can certainly become an art in itself among development.

So...this is reason enough, as to begin a journal post,

My latest Quilt

Been busy finishing up with a new baby quilt this weekend. I decided 2 weeks ago, to make another Puff/biscuit/pillow quilt.  As soon as I located and purchased fabric for the puffs, I was right on it.  And to my luck, I already had a bag of filling and plenty of muslin for the backside to make the pillowing puffs. All I needed was the rainbow of pastel fabrics.  For this quilt, color choices included yellow and purple  with a few coordinating prints with hints of pink  after all, this is to be made for a newborn baby girl just born last week! I'm almost done today  and rather excited for it to be soon gifted.  However first, wanted to organize my journal progresses and edit my notes.  That made me begin to wonder, how many quilters really do journal their progresses  with notes, and as one is working on a project or quilt. I began to note how much better my work was flowing and as I kept up on my notes.  It made me focus a lot more, and  in

Project Baby Quilt Part 2: Group, Press, Cut, Regroup Play

Group- press-cut-regroup Today began the process grouping fabrics into a color palette. I divided the color into 3 groups. Green , pink & yellow.  Pressed each fabric piece by color group , and cut 2 strips each -measuring 2.5 in width from each fabric  A total of 18 strips when completed.     Green Strips The tips below were helpful to keep in mind as I ironed today and to cut, sew & pressed the sewn seams. Press each seam : Often reminded to press seams as sewn . And e ven more important when piecing a quilt!  I lightly "press" set each seam. This manner achieved by pressing & for best results and not necessarily as what is referred to as "ironing .   Press technique explained :  http://sewmamasew.com/blog View this video for more pressing tips : More tips : I also found helpful : pressing all seams in same direction. When sewn smoother and easier glide when machine sewn. And to keep in mind, se
