The UFO's

My sewing room these days seems to have an admiration for collecting UFO. You know, those Q blocks left laying aside!!! They sort of cry out waiting for the next inspiration to become something of use.    Amazes me each time what one can come across searching for an item, or with among phases of cleaning up my work spaces and in just going through my sewing bins among spaces. My quilting had been previously drawn to skill-building in between making a few quilt for gifts the past few years too. And though I have learned quite a number with those skill building skills with block layout, therefore those sewing spaces have also collected quite a stack of  UFO's aka U n F inished  O bjects. Truly a time to begin finding a use for them considering some successful and maybe not so much. Must admit had a few of them frazzling me into making them not always my favorite but gained so much from the processes. And then those that pop out in begging me to make something out

Carolina Girl Quilt

T-Shirt Quilt for My Carolina Girl Christmas has come and gone for some time now. Yet memories plenty to be.  One made memory for our family this past year, was a T'shirt quilt made & presented to my daughter. Think she really liked the idea with all her 'ole & dear favorite T's filled with memories all placed together into a quilt, and to be able, to cozy up with them during the cold winter months. Her favorite T's were cut and fused  And then sized for fitting into blocks measuring 12.5"x 12.5" Eventually, 3 rows were formed.  The bottom area turned out with the widest row from pairing and sizing. 2.5 " strips framed each block. Mainly strips of the color black were used to frame along with a few other complimentary colors for bordering each large block. A widening purple border was used to finish off the quilt top, The measurement with that widening border escapes me at the moment. The backing pieced with a solid slat

Implementing Elements Using Fabric

Quilting has surely come a long way over the decades. Patchwork, to spins on all types of blockwork; from sew piecing a variety of shapes, to applique, and varying paper-piecing methods. In the mix, the interest of design starts to notably kick in with layouts and into forming one's own ideas and choices, following to trickle over into those elements among fabric and of choice, for choosing. I've come across a handful of tips and or tutorials for subjects on fabric selecting & quilt color theories, Meanwhile, keep trying to train my eyes for those benefits as I shop! And into spotting my favorite patterns colors towards wonderous venture and adding in those ideas of elements to encourage success.  Fabric choices can go and all kinds of directions when faced with the vast isles of those fabric bolts.  And since I've begun tilting towards those wondrous and soooo very... interesting kaleidoscope type quilts.
