Avery's Quilt: Step 3- Cloth Development

Baby Quilt

Step 3: Journey to the cloth

As the journey piecing fabric strips continued, a pattern began to form.
From colors combined with strip a cloth began to form.
Once all strips were sewn together. I took a step back in viewing the results
however,  found my felts of strike with a syndrome
"does not feel quite right ".
I'm to think most timely projects, at some point, does
seem to carry those periods with uncertainly. And as to where one has to step back
and rethink with the course.
As my strips formed a wider & longer cloth,
I stepped back to get a feel of what  all the sewn seams had resulted to
and  with feeling it was not exactly how I wanted it yet.

How a little diversion and change of scenery can help among those moments. And once I did just that, and allowed my thoughts to clear of the clutter :) seems the juices returned and back running again to creative further.

New Results: A new pattern
I discover a different path today along with a few cuts to my cloth as I began to a few changes with arrangements to those piecing. The methods of those cuts ( shown below) and therefore began to take on a change and shape and more to a liking view.

Border to add
The 2 cuts provided me with 3 new pieces to play with. With their arrangements at random play by turning them in opposite directions formed a new look and began to please my eyes among those playing results. At this point I decided to also add a wider border as to rejoin those cuts I had just made. With the arrangement now turned and a wide border added the entire layout would change.
I made 2 more cuts with the yellow fabric and rejoined the new pieces that has resulted in my cuts. I joined the widest panels first and then joined the side panel to them.
What had become boring random strips now made an entire new cloth to work with among this course of change.

Change of scenery and more pleasing to the eye.

The wider border rejoined and rearranged the cuts
and tonight juices flowing again.

And I have a few more ideas still brewing.

My latest Quilt

Been busy finishing up with a new baby quilt this weekend. I decided 2 weeks ago, to make another Puff/biscuit/pillow quilt.  As soon as I located and purchased fabric for the puffs, I was right on it.  And to my luck, I already had a bag of filling and plenty of muslin for the backside to make the pillowing puffs. All I needed was the rainbow of pastel fabrics.  For this quilt, color choices included yellow and purple  with a few coordinating prints with hints of pink  after all, this is to be made for a newborn baby girl just born last week! I'm almost done today  and rather excited for it to be soon gifted.  However first, wanted to organize my journal progresses and edit my notes.  That made me begin to wonder, how many quilters really do journal their progresses  with notes, and as one is working on a project or quilt. I began to note how much better my work was flowing and as I kept up on my notes.  It made me focus a lot more, and  in

Project Baby Quilt Part 2: Group, Press, Cut, Regroup Play

Group- press-cut-regroup Today began the process grouping fabrics into a color palette. I divided the color into 3 groups. Green , pink & yellow.  Pressed each fabric piece by color group , and cut 2 strips each -measuring 2.5 in width from each fabric  A total of 18 strips when completed.     Green Strips The tips below were helpful to keep in mind as I ironed today and to cut, sew & pressed the sewn seams. Press each seam : Often reminded to press seams as sewn . And e ven more important when piecing a quilt!  I lightly "press" set each seam. This manner achieved by pressing & for best results and not necessarily as what is referred to as "ironing .   Press technique explained :  http://sewmamasew.com/blog View this video for more pressing tips : More tips : I also found helpful : pressing all seams in same direction. When sewn smoother and easier glide when machine sewn. And to keep in mind, se
