Its time to update this blog. My creative juices have trend to crocheting since my last post . That has been sometime with life getting in the way and to enable me to pick back up with some journal postings.  Plans are to begin adding to the craft journal with a few projects either undergone and or presently going on as to post and hopefully soon.  In the mean time , a quick snap shot of the latest crafting developments which is a Crochet Koala Granny square.  My latest  developments have been with building animal granny squares for a children's blanket with a zoo theme. And below, a few amigurumi characters that have also recently been completed.  A Raccoon that was gifted                                                                                             And my version of the                                " Buddy Bunny" for springtime

Summer sure flew by, and the past few months have rather been busy with both the old and new. Pat's Creative Loft cranked out a few new projects designed for family to mark a memorable day & celebrate with a new arrival. And the color themes and shapes are of my favorites.  Nautical Baby Quilt Signature Quilt Needless to say its been quite a busy summer leading into fall and filled with changing favorite colors and shapes!

Merry Mini Quilt

My block library continues building over the summer. During July ideas of the winter season with a Quilt a long called: Merry Mini Quilt for the Christmas season caught my attention during the summer heat. I've managed to develop the first two blocks from the four that will be revealed during July.  I like the idea of 4 mystery blocks with the idea to complete this mini quilt in a short time. Baby lap Quilt

Once upon a time, and quite some time ago,  I fell for these little beauties that came in a charm pack. My fun with them lead into making 4 patch block units.  Pretty soon I had the top formed and ready to sandwich . And once together, working in some Freemotion Quilt stitches on each unit. The variety of choices among the pre cut squares made for a lot of fun with all the pretty prints And I am loving using the black prints along with the coral & turquoise combined together. I added a black print that had white dots for the sashing, framing, and binding. A 4 Patchwork block made with beautiful prints can become a striking quick lap quilt. This one was simple and with lots of fun, and shall be gifted either as a baby or lap quilt.

Paint Chip Challenge

I've been busy working on a new quilting group challenge, called Paint Chip. This challenge is based on 2 paint chip color choices and without limitations and guidelines to follow with this challenge. After days on end viewing paint colors and fabrics. My arrival is into utilizing these 2 paint colors with the 2 main matching fabric choices, and sure the color spectrum shall expand considering the printed fabric. I've  also begun working with my fantastic Quilting   Magic Mirror tool. Love this handy tool and how it displays varying kaleidoscope designs in my play I've decided to implement the color choice spectrum from the paint chip challenge group towards building some paper piecing units. During the play & formation phases, I began pulling together a few pieces. My first " cog" ( as I like refer to them ) is a Star flower shape called,  Dolley Madison Star ,  or of the found and known  Camelot Star by :   Barbara Brackman's Morris Hex

Fabric magic

Timing out today mirroring fabric with some play.  And as the magic unfolds,  I've begun cataloguing the designs forming in front of me!  I have my handy mirror tool ready to play along with this fabric Wow me with the magic and mirroring image......... And again...... And again.....  (whoops forgot to take the paper seal off in this shot!) I'm excited with all the design possiblitites and it is so fun discovering them!  It's quite so magical!! Finally, a chance to enjoy some playtime with fabric. It has been eye opening playing along with these special pieces of fabric that had been set aside for just this occasion, along with hopes into an intended project. Another project on the horizon ..and one to mark off that Quilt & fun bucket list. I have a few ideas, but first, more fabric with the mirroring designs. Stay tuned as I keep this magic going and with hopes to share more soon ...... Ha

A signature quilt in the works in the loft.  A plan in the making for the months ahead. The cuts done, units ready to assemble. The first cuts consist of 60 pieces which become the centers for the signature/ marking area in each unit. The fabric for these cuts are Ivory Kona cotton, measuring 5.5" x 5.5" squares once cut. Next the adding  3" x 3 " squares were cut. Those totaling results become 120 pieces for the future units and are combined using 3 different fabrics. he cuts done, units ready to assemble.
